Gianna Regenbrecht

Gianna’s spinal cord was severely injured in a riding accident 8 years ago (2014), resulting in paraplegia from the second lumbar vertebra.
However, the accident did not change her love of horses and equestrian sports, so it was clear to Gianna from the outset that she wanted to ride again. Starting with hippotherapy, a form of therapy on horseback, she gradually found her way back into the saddle.
A year later, Selma & Gianna entered para-dressage sport and were runners-up at the German Championships in 2019. This was followed by inclusion in the national junior squad and their first international competitions.
Selma and Gianna were successful at national and international competitions last year (2021) and are therefore in the national para-dressage squad for the third year in a row this year. Gianna has also had a young hopeful under the saddle since this year. She is lucky that her trainer Claudia Mense has made one of her home-bred horses available to Gianna. The now 6-year-old Ben is set to follow in Selma’s footsteps one day. Gianna’s greatest success so far has been to become German runner-up. In 2021, Selma & Gianna finished fourth internationally, but were able to win almost all competitions nationally. Gianna’s biggest goal: the Paralympics in Paris 2024!

Over the years, Alina and her successful mare Paola OLD have won bronze in the Young Riders class at the 2018 State Championships HH/SH, as well as several placings in the advanced class and a 3rd place at the Youth Challenge in Verden. On their way into the Grand Prix sport, the pair were able to collect placings and victories at advanced (S*) level for the first time in 2020 and thus take part in the selection course for the 2021 Piaff Förderpreis for Schleswig-Holstein. Thanks to their successful qualification, the pair were allowed to compete in the stages of the Piaff Förderpreis, where they achieved further placings at advanced (S*) level. Thanks to their performance, they were allowed to take part in the final of the Piaff-Förderpreis in Kronberg in December 2021. There they were able to celebrate their greatest success with 3rd place in the final. In 2022, they achieved two 4th places in Mannheim as part of the Piaff-Förderpreis, before winning gold and silver at the German Championships in Balve in the U25 Grand Prix and the U25 Grand Prix Freestyle. But Alina was also able to win the U25 Derby with horse change in Hamburg in 2022 with her just 7-year-old young horse Flavio.
