Bridles Part 3/4 – Reliable everyday workhorses from Kavalkade

What does each bridle do? In this post, we’ll be taking a closer look at our own bridles, showing what makes them so unique, and explaining why we particularly recommend them to you.

Reading Time: 6 minutes

In Part 2/4 of our series on bridles, we’ve already discussed the different types of bridles and how they work in detail. But what does that actually mean? Which bridle is best suited to which purpose, and is it worth investing in a specific one? In this article, we’ll be focusing on our own bridles, showing what makes them so unique, and explaining why we particularly recommend them to you.

What makes our Cavalcade bridles so special

At Kavalkade, we specialise in bridles that are perfectly suited to everyday use. Professional riders in particular benefit from high quality, ease of use and time-saving features. In addition to an ideal fit and a high level of comfort for the horse, we also focus on high-quality leather in various price ranges and meticulous craftsmanship. We also pay attention to the little details in everyday use, such as soft padding and an anatomical cut. After all, this is the only way to ensure that using a bridle is a harmonious experience for both rider and horse.

The benefits of our bridles at a glance

A perfect fit

When it comes to bridles, we do not rely on mass-produced goods. Thanks to their internal padding, they are softer than conventional models and mould perfectly to the horse’s head. We also continually refine our bridles based on the horses’ needs, to accommodate different head shapes.

If our standard models aren’t quite what you need, Cre8 offers you the option to put together a bespoke bridle. For example, a WB headpiece can be combined with a VB noseband to achieve the perfect fit.

Effective use

Our bridles are characterised by:

  • bevelled straps for easier fastening
  • oval holes for quicker threading of the buckles
  • recessed straps for more efficient fastening
  • padded buckles on English bridles that rest directly against the head

We also offer the following for Swedish bridles:

  • A more effective fastening system for the noseband, ensuring that the pad always sits centrally.
  • Anatomically shaped nosebands to reduce pressure on the nerve pathways, or narrower side nosebands to allow more freedom for the cheek straps whilst the horse is moving.

Anatomical neck pieces

All our bridles feature anatomically shaped headpieces that allow the horse’s ears complete freedom of movement. The headpieces vary depending on the model:

Cre8 – The classic: Well-padded at the ears and anatomically shaped, with a slight curve in the centre to relieve pressure on the crest of the mane.

Lucia – The insider tip: Even more anatomically shaped, with a forward-curved neck piece and soft padding at the back – ideal for horses with a prominent mane crest or a high neck set.

Malou – The open neckpiece: Softly padded at the ears, with an anatomical cut and an atlas recess to relieve pressure on the muscles.

Split-toe shoes: Wider than conventional styles, with 2 to 3 soft leather slits for better pressure distribution and greater flexibility.

What types of leather do we use, and why?

Our bridles are made from the finest leathers and can withstand even the most intensive use. Precise stitching, sturdy fittings and well-thought-out details ensure they will last a long time. As not everyone prefers the same type of leather, we offer a range of options.

  • German leather: high quality, extremely supple, retains its shape and is durable.
  • European leather: high-quality, supple, dimensionally stable and durable.
  • Indian leather: sturdier, less supple, but nevertheless retains its shape well and is durable when properly cared for.

Rule of thumb

The more intensive the use – for example, in competitions, or in professional or competitive equestrian sports – the higher the quality of the leather should be.

Our most popular cavalcade bridles

Brown horse with a Florina cavalcade bridle

Florina bridle

Our elegant, round-stitched bridle, made from high-quality German leather, stands out thanks to its unique buckling system at the nape. As there are no buckles on the sides, pressure on the sensitive nerve pathways is significantly reduced.

The Mexican classic: this well-padded bridle with side rings offers optimum freedom of movement for the jaw and supports the horse’s chewing action. Thanks to the side rings, the straps can be adjusted more precisely than with fixed sides.

This bridle is so popular that we now offer a range of different versions to suit every taste. Our Ivy range (Ivana, Ivy, Ivy Lambskin) is specially designed to gently follow the nerve pathways along the sides. This prevents incorrect pressure distribution on sensitive nerve points.

This classic Swedish-style combination bridle features a detachable curb strap and a noseband that tapers towards the sides. This relieves pressure on the nerve pathways and gives the cheek pieces more freedom of movement.

Little everyday helpers

Sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference, especially in equestrian sports, where every detail counts. Our practical everyday aids ensure that you can focus fully on your horse.

KavalSH4 – invisible safety strap

Every horse deserves a bridle that fits perfectly. That’s why we offer a removable stop strap for many of our bridle models.

To do this, slide a small T-piece between the pad and the noseband, then attach it to the stop strap. This way, you can even ride at competitions without a stop strap, without any worries.

Leather strap from ‘Alter Schwede’ by Kavalkade

Goodold Swede – a clever strap solution

Do you know the problem of lost straps? Then get yourself our ‘Old Swede’! This handy Swedish loop holds the side straps securely together and ensures they stay neat and tidy.

The Swedish noseband consists of a leather strap with a Velcro fastening and an elasticated loop. The rear strap of the Swedish noseband is simply threaded through the elastic loop. Once the noseband is fully fastened, secure the Swedish loop with the Velcro fastening – and you’re done!
